Why won't my baby Red-Eared Slider eat? ( he's about 5 or 7 months old and has been with me since he was 2 mns?

He won't eat any of the pellets I give him and won't even look at it. When he does see it, he moves it out of it's way and keeps on swimming. He is swimming perfectly fine, but the problem is he won't eat. I mean he has everything he needs, water to swim, rocks, heat, lighting, a big tank, and another turtle that is a female. Is that normal, if not or so please answer me suggestions.|||Try tempting it with healthier food. Offer small earthworms, bait fishes, or bits of liver dusted in bone meal.|||because pellets are not a good diet when that's all you feed. Without the proper heat lamps, and UVB fluorescent lighting and proper diet they die within a year or two of nutritional deficiencies and metabolic bone disease.

Normal lifespan is 60-80 years. Eating pellets all the time is just like you eating crackers all your life.|||Hi!

Pellets are fine as a basis in your turtle's diet, but he needs more variety! Try offering him some blood worms or dried shrimp. You should also offer him dark green, leafy things like kale and dandelion leaves. Although he may not eat them now, there will come a day when he decides he is grown up enough to eat them.

I always take my turtles out of the tank to feed them. That way I can monitor what each one is eating and it cuts down on mess in the tank. Also, with no filter pushing the food all about, it's a bit easier for my little one to eat.

I hope this helps!
